modeling of an artificial satellite with rigid appendages (solar
panei). Lagrange equations were utilized for obtaining the
governing equations of motion. Ali the nonlinear terms generated
on this derivation were considered on the analysis of the
dynamical behavior of the system. These terms come mainly from the
coupling of the problem variables (and its first order
derivatives), of the terms of products of velocities (centripetal
and Coriolis) and form the inertia matrix. A small parameter
multiplying the nonlinear terms is considered so one is allowed to
investigate the influence of the nonlinear terms ou the studied
movements. It was investigated two different dynamical systems:
satellite with only one panei and satellite considering two
paneis. A prescribed profile is utilized for the torque that
actuates on the appendages to conduce them to its desired
positions. Profiles for the jets responsible by the alteration on
the attitude of the satellite are also prescribed. The resulting
system of differential equations is integrated through a fourth
order Runge-Kutta integrator. A graphical animation that utilizes
the results of the numerical simulations presented here go with
this work and can be used to a better understanding of the complex
movements investigated.",
